When I looked at the machines of the regulars at Carnosa, many of them were using direct drive, which seemed to be a trend at this circuit.

I thought that even though it was a stock car, the load on the gears would be large on the carpeted surface...

But I wanted to make it feel like it was going to push forward more, so I tried it out.

As expected, the throttle responded well,

and it pushed forward.

But it was difficult to operate...

It felt a bit jerky, like a quick, quick, quick.

Until last time, I was driving with the slipper set up quite tight, but this was smoother and more slippery.

After about 10 packs, a strange noise came from the gearbox.

When I opened it, the idler was worn down like this.

I wonder if it's the way I'm driving...

This is definitely faster for one run.

My best time was also improved by about 0.4 seconds from last time.

However, I couldn't keep laps going steadily.

Luckily I had a spare idler so I replaced it.

I've stopped using the direct drive for now and will switch back to the slipper next time I ride.
